What was your character's most traumatic experience? How did this change them?
Maddie Buckley's most traumatic experience was her abusive marriage with her ex-husband, Doug Kendall. This deeply affected her as she struggled to break free from the cycle of abuse and control. Maddie's decision to leave her husband and start a new life marked a profound change in her character, showcasing her resilience and strength. This experience prompted her to pursue a career as a 911 dispatcher, where she could use her struggles to empathize with and support those in distress, ultimately turning her trauma into a source of empowerment and care for others.

Maddie Buckley experienced a complex mix of emotions after killing Doug Kendall in self-defense. The act weighed heavily on her conscience, stirring feelings of conflict, guilt, and emotional distress. Despite the abusive and threatening nature of her relationship with Doug, the profound impact of taking a life left her grappling with inner turmoil. It tested Maddie's resilience and led her on a profoundly personal journey of introspection and emotional healing as she navigated the aftermath of the traumatic event.

What experience challenged your character's core beliefs? How did they handle this or change from it?
Maddie's dealing with developing postpartum depression after Je-Yunn was born. Maddie's journey through postpartum depression was depicted as a complex and challenging experience, as she struggled with feelings of isolation, anxiety, overwhelming despair, and attempted suicide. Maddie had many challenges seeking help and support, which impacted her relationships and personal well-being. Maddie ultimately found the strength to confront her postpartum depression, seeking therapy and the support of her loved ones. She made her mental health a priority for the betterment of herself and her daughter. She acknowleged that she should have sought out help earlier and not let it build, but Buckley's tend to run away rather than confront their problems. When she returned, she knew that she had allowed Chimney to enable her to ignore her struggles for so long. She stepped away from Chim to focus on herself and her daughter.

What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why? Maddie Buckley's most important and defining relationship is with her brother, Buck. Their bond is central to her life, she raised him in the stead of their absentee parents. She provided the most stable, loved-filled environment that she could with only being eight when he was born. She made sure that Evan knew that he was loved and wanted.. by her. She gave Evan all the normal kid experiences that she could. She made sure that his birthday felt special and she even tried telling Evan that their parents weren't bad people just bad parents. She always protected him even going so far as to give him her jeep and money to leave town.

They live by the motto 'us against the world' where the pinkie promise is the law of the land. They have each other's back and always are first in line to protect the other from getting hurt.

If your character could change one thing about their past, what would it be and why? Or why not? I think if Maddie Buckley could change one thing about her past, she might want to change her decision to marry her abusive ex-husband, Doug. This decision had a significant impact on her life and caused her a lot of pain and suffering. However, at the same time, going through that experience made her stronger and more resilient and ultimately led her to find true love and happiness with her current husband, Chimney. So, while she might wish to spare herself the trauma, she also might recognize that it shaped her into the person she is today.

I also believe Maddie sincerely wishes she had informed Evan about Daniel much earlier. She raised Evan until she couldn't anymore. She wanted to give him a childhood that she should have. I believe Maddie struggled with telling Evan about Daniel because she was worried about how he would react and the potential impact on their relationship. Maddie was a child herself, grieving a brother that no one was supposed to know about. At first, Maddie was too young to understand what her parents wanted her to do, and the longer she waited, the harder it became to tell the truth. She should have known that her parents would once again torpedo Evan's life and tell him herself.

Which Taylor Swift era is your character going through now and why? Maddie is currently going through the "Lover" era by Taylor Swift. This era is characterized by a sense of maturity, love, and stability, which resonates with Maddie as she navigates the joys and challenges of her personal relationships while striving for fulfillment and growth.

She is in a stable relationship with Howie, raising their daughter. Her brother is finally in a good place so her job is to enjoy her life.

The song Paper Rings, especially reminds her of the beginning of her relationship with Howie. Both of them have grown so much and deserve the respite they are currently enjoying.
